Equestrian Rubber Chippings
Selecting the correct top dressing is of critical importance if you are planning to create the ideal riding arena, menage, gallop or lunging area. Many people choose inferior products such as wood chip as a menage surface due to the cost saving only to find the surface is soft and waterlogged during winter or dusty and compacted during the summer. The correct balance of firmness and cushioning needs to be achieved to avoid damage to your horses tendons and ligaments.
Our recycled rubber chippings/chips are made by the recycling of car tyres. The product consists of rubber and nylon fibre to give a product that is both firm and elastic. 99.99% of metal is removed by a specialised shredding process incorporating very powerful magnets to remove any contamination. The angular nature of the rubber and fibre mix ensure that the menage surface remains frost free and workable in all but the most extreme conditions.
Mainland Aggregates recommend a 50mm layer of our 20mm Rubber Chippings laid over a compacted bed of our Silica Sand. This will create a well drained all weather menage surface that is a pleasure to ride. Typically a 40m x 20m riding arena will require 20 tonnes of rubber chippings at 50mm in depth. We also supply 75-40mm Clean Limestone or 75-40mm Clean Crushed Concrete for arena sub-bases/drainage layers.
