Quarried Building Sand/Ballast

Sand is a naturally occurring granular material composed of finely divided rock and mineral particles. There are a vast number of sands available on the market with each type of sand possessing particular qualities making them more or less suitable for a particular task.

Sand is used as a raw material in many industries such as construction, manufacturing, electronics and horticulture to name a few. Mainland Aggregates provide sands predominantly used by the construction industry such as sharp sand and building sand. Sharp sand is primarily used as a bedding material for paving whereas building sand is more suited to the preparation of bricklaying mortars, renders and screeds.
