How to measure?
Take a metric tape measure and measure the length, width and depth of the area to be filled. The length and width measurements should be recorded in metres and the depth in millimetres. As a rule 10mm Golden Gravel shouldn't be used for a driveway. The smaller stones tend to get stuck in the tread of car tyres. The product can be used on driveways if gravel grids are used but we don't recommend use without. It is much better to use the 20mm Golden Gravel which is much more suited to driveways and doesn't require grids.
How Do I Calculate The Quantity Of 10mm Golden Gravel I Require?
10mm Golden Gravel should be laid at no more than 40-50mm depth. Typically, one of our Bulk Bags will cover 10m2 at 40-50mm depth. For larger areas you may wish to use our quantity calculator located at the top right hand side of this page under the grey "How Much Will I Need" tab. Simply enter your measurements to reveal the required tonnage. Please be sure to enter the length and width figures in metres and the depth in millimetres to give the correct quantity.
How Do I Install 10mm Golden Gravel?
10mm Golden Gravel used for paths should be spread with a rake or shovel at 40-50mm depth over a compacted sub base such as Type 1 . When used on borders, the product can be spread at 40-50mm directly onto a weed suppressing membrane.
Does 10mm Golden Gravel Require Maintenance?
10mm Golden Gravel should be trouble free! It may require periodic raking to remove leaves and level out any high or low spots but nothing more than that. The product can even be power washed to remove heavier grimy deposits but we recommend doing this during the drier summer months to avoid waterlogging.
Is 10mm Golden Gravel Fish Friendly?
10mm Golden Gravel is fish friendly. However, It is recommended the product is thoroughly washed before immersing in water.
