Consists of: Envirosand is a free draining low maintenance alternative to sharp sand produced by crushing and screening waste glass packaging. Envirosand has a lower bulk density than sharp sand which results in greater coverage per tonne. Envirosand is not only non-toxic and inert but also offers excellent technical performance comparable to that of primary aggregates.
Although Envirosand is derived from glass it remains angular but not sharp. The extra coverage gained by Envirosands' low bulk density results in an economical alternative to sharp sand with many users preferring it. Envirosand can be used when wet due to its non-sticky characteristics unlike sharp sand therefore allowing the product to be used in all conditions.
The use of Envirosand is generally considered environmentally sound as the use of recycled products helps to take pressure off quarried aggregate stocks.
