How to measure?
Take a metric tape measure and measure the length, width and depth of the area to be filled. The length and width measurements should be recorded in metres and the depth in millimetres. Now take these figures and enter them into the quantity calculator to reveal the approximate quantity required for your job.

Old English Self Binding Gravel Consists of:
A very attractive light brown coloured, self binding gravel suitable for paths, cyclepaths and bridleways. The range of gravel sizes that make up this self binding gravel ensure it compacts firmly and resists movement when trafficked. Self binding gravel is ideal for applications where are a firmer surface than standard gravel is required. Self binding gravel should be placed in thin layers and rolled using a vibrating roller to create a firm surface. We recommend 50mm depth for footpaths and borders. Old English Self Binding Gravel must be laid on a suitable free draining compacted sub-base such as MOT Type 3 and it is essential that Old English Self Binding Gravel is laid with a camber or crossfall to allow water to disperse. Poor drainage is the number one cause of surface failure. This product must not be laid when soaking wet or bone dry as compaction will be lost. See Self Binding Gravel Laying Instructions

Does Old English Self Binding Gravel Require A Border Or Edging?
Although not essential an edging helps with compaction of Old English Self Binding Gravel as it prevents lateral movement of the material and also gives you a level to work to if laying material with the screed method. Edgings are generally made from timber, concrete or block paviours. It is important that regular gaps are left in an edging to prevent water being contained within the path.
