Mainland Aggregates Top Cobble Stone For Filling Your Pond

Picking the right type of rock, cobbles and gravel for your pond – and then using it imaginatively once you’ve made your selection – can make such a difference to the overall look and feel of your garden. When it comes to filling your garden pond if you want a really attractive end result, choosing your cobble stones carefully is an important job.

Top Cobble Stones For Filling Your Pond

When you are selecting cobbles for filling your pond, one of the most important things to consider is how it will fit in with the rest of the garden. Unless your water feature is located in its own little setting, hidden away, you’ll need to take any other garden decor into account.

What Size And Shape Cobble Stones Do I Need?

This really depends on the look you’re trying to achieve with your pond. For a structured, architectural look, go for paving or matching pieces. Or if you would prefer a more natural appearance, a mix of sizes will work best.

When it comes to the shape and smoothness of the rocks, cobble stone or gravel needed depends on their intended use. Some things to think about: Overly smooth stones used for pond edging may be dangerous when wet, while rough or jagged stones used within the pond, or left in a position where they could fall into it, could cause damage to the liner.

Some kinds of features also have particular needs. For bubble fountains, smooth, river-washed cobbles like our chocolate river cobbles are the best choice. The various chocolate-toned cobbles are particularly desirable for landscaping and water features. The shades of brown are pale and subtle when dry but really come alive when the product is wet making them a stunning feature of your pond.

Our Scottish Cobbles and Large White Cobbles, are larger rocks whilst pebbles,  whilst Beach Pebbles for example, are smaller in size. Or for small loose gravel rocks of different sizes, shapes and colours you can opt for decorative gravel

Decorative chippings are flatter than gravel and are often only made up of one type of stone. Our Flamingo Chippings come in a mixture of different shades including peach, grey, blue, white and gold creating a very striking alternative to many gravels. Flamingo Chippings tend to maintain their colour when wet or dry so they are particularly good for brightening up pond areas.

Our blended chippings are natural stones with no additives or colouring. Our mixed colour chippings are blended to achieve a colour mixture otherwise unavailable. Some of the chipping blends available include black and white chippings and black and red chippings.
