At Mainland Aggregates, we believe that decorative aggregates are the best material to add something special to any outdoor space. From creating walls with gabion baskets and stunning gabion stones to building colourful garden borders with Welsh slate chippings, the choices are endless. To give you some inspiration on how to create a beautiful outdoor space, we have put together some of the best decorative aggregates available.

Decorative gravel.

Gravel is a versatile aggregate that can be used for a variety of projects. Not only is gravel low maintenance and good for drainage but it also comes in a wide range of colours and sizes, so you can easily find the perfect type of gravel to suit your requirements. Gravel can be used to create footpaths, borders, driveways and plant borders and can even be used as mulch.

Some of our best-selling decorative gravel include 20mm Gravel, 20mm Staffordshire Pink Gravel, 20mm Dove Grey Limestone and 20mm Pink Granite Chippings. These popular types of gravel can be used for a variety of landscape features.

Gabion stones.

Gabion stone is most commonly used to fill gabion baskets in order to create retaining walls. However, gabion stones can also be used for a vast selection of other landscape projects, including creating rockeries and uplifting water features.

If you are looking for neutral stones, Dove Grey Gabion Stone or Harvest Buff Gabion Stone are great choices. Either of these will brighten up and enhance any outdoor space. In case you are looking to achieve a more unique look, Rustic Gabion Stone or Graphite Slate Gabion Stone will be the way to go.

Pebbles and cobbles.

Pebbles and cobbles are multipurpose aggregates that are used for a variety of applications, mostly for general landscape projects, such as water features, rockeries and plant borders. Pebbles and cobbles come in a wide range of colours, sizes and shapes. With this varied choice, you can easily find the right pebbles or cobbles for your project. You can even mix and match pebbles and cobbles for a more visually interesting look.

Slate chippings.

Slate chippings or Welsh slate chippings are small, flat pieces of slate commonly used to create plant borders, edge footpaths, fill patio gaps or build unique outdoor features. Slate chippings add texture and colour to an outdoor space, making it more inviting and vibrant. If you are not sure which slate chipping to choose, some of our most popular include 40mm Graphite Grey Slate Chippings, 40mm Blue Slate Chippings and 20mm Plum Slate Chippings.
