Types Of Sand Available Locally

If you live near a beach you might think you have easy access to as much sand as you can get your mitts on but actually, did you know you’d be breaking the law to remove sand and stones from beaches? However, it’s lovely to remain true to local roots, so, when in need of sand for garden projects and builds of your own, it is always prudent to posterity to stay close to home and buy from suppliers, who don’t lift their sand from the nearest beach but instead source from the correct channels, close to where you live.  

A simple internet search of “sand suppliers near me” should point you in the right direction and then what you’re looking for will vary depending on your needs – always best to ask an expert if you’re not one of them! 

As one of the most abundant materials on the planet (as previously talked about it’s on every beach the world over), and as such has been discovered to be very useful for, quite literally, thousands of reasons and in multiple ways. Sand’s uses are almost limitless it would seem, from being the bones in the creation of glass, to acting as a water filter, building projects, to assist with the maintenance of arena floors, to work with nature as ecologically friendly waste disposal… There are so many ways to use sand it would be impossible to direct a conversation about it and do no more than scratch the surface but, if you’re a gardener, you will know when it comes to surfaces sand really does come into its own.  

Different grain sizes and compositions create very different jobs for sand and you will need to research the right sand for your particular project. For example, if you’re filling an arena for horses to jump on then you will need the irregular shaped silica sand which allows for a softer landing and if you’re a gardener in the market for landscaping sand to be bought in bulk bags, it will have required a different sort of quarry. 

One thing’s for sure, the people who know sand, really know it so you only have to know what you need it for and the experts will guide you in the right direction and even deliver it to you wherever you need it to be. See, much easier than going in the dead of night with a carrier bag to the local beach front, risking arrest and ending up with the wrong sand anyway!
