What are Rubber Chippings?

Rubber chippings, also known as rubber mulch, are a type of inorganic mulch made from recycled rubber, such as rubber from recycled tyres.

Are rubber chippings safe?

At Mainland Aggregates, we supply Arena-Flex equestrian rubber chippings that are 99.9% wire free by weight. These have been passed through a specialised granulator and then screened to ensure rubber chippings are as safe as possible. However, the odd small piece of wire may be present. Our rubber chippings are frost resistant and well drained to produce a cushioned non-slip surface that is safe for horses and horse riders.

What to put under rubber mulch?

You can lay landscape fabric before spreading rubber mulch. Landscape fabric, such as geotextile membrane, prevents fabric mulch from sinking into the soil.

Do rubber chippings get hot?

Rubber chippings may get hot under intense sunlight but so will other types of chippings.

Is rubber mulch the same as rubber chippings?

Yes, rubber mulch is another name given to rubber chippings.
